Mr. GEOK Seong Wah

seongwah_2016-octMr Geok Seong Wah is currently a Director at GovTech responsible for Infrastructure Products and Engineering. He is championing the conception of the centre of excellence for the infrastructure tower and contributes to product management capability development as a subject matter expert. Prior to joining GovTech he taught at NUS-ISS and was one of the founding members of the Service Innovation practice (now called Digital Innovation) there. There he helped developed the course curriculum, courseware and accreditation for the service innovation courses. He pioneered the design thinking courses.

His career includes working in a number multinationals and SME’s in a variety of roles. He was deeply involved in the product management of mobile and managed services when he worked at StarHub and Tata Communications. He was responsible for introducing the BlackBerry service in Singapore and was instrumental in extending the service into Indonesia. He worked in close partnership with technology vendors like Research-in-Motion and other telco vendors. At StarHub, he was also responsible for a number of mobile value-added services like location-based, push-to-talk, SMS, MMS and WiFi Hotspot services. When he was at Tata Communications, he helped build a suite of global managed application services that catered to customers around the world serving out of data centres in India, US, UK and Singapore. He worked at Microsoft and help run the local consulting practice. Seong Wah also mentored digital start-ups and worked with SMEs in the media industry.

Seong Wah started his career as a hardcore PC programmer in the late 80s. At first, he spent many years in the civil service computerization programme in NCB (then NCS) in developing cross-government applications. Then he switched to ICT infrastructure projects and eventually led the migration of the heterogeneous email systems in the entire civil service into its first unified email system in 1995.
