Learning objectives
This course covers the financial fundamentals that are needed for IT managers to understand in order to more effective in the planning, budgeting and management of the IT environment. In order to leverage on the competitive advantage of information technology in business, there are more business projects that demand effective IT solutions to be incorporated into their implementation strategies. As such, IT managers are expected to have a good understanding of the corporate strategies, and to apply financial information in the management of complex project portfolios. It is therefore important that IT managers are equipped with knowledge to understand finance terminology and concepts.  This will provide them with the skills to develop a better understanding of key financial statements – income statements, balance sheet and cash flows, enabling them to manage different types of expenses, financial reporting, budgeting, funding, and investment appraisal.
