Dr. Kish Ranai


Dr Kisenchand (Kish) Ranai graduated with BSc (Hons) and PhD in Computer Science from the University of Liverpool, England. He was a former lecturer at the Department of Information Systems, National University of Singapore teaching IT Project Management and Software Requirements Analysis and Design. He started his career as an Associate Professor  in NUS from 1985 to 1991 and left for the private sector to work in various MNCs such as Hapag-Lloyd and Citibank with regional responsibilities before returning to academia.

He has over 20 years of IT experience, managing small to large scale projects from initial concept to final implementation primarily covering infrastructure projects. Good mix of business and technology skills that are complemented by ability to effectively engage with various business units. Experience of managing engagements with renowned IT vendors in negotiating various software/hardware services and establishing and maintaining strategic working relationship; Track record of successfully implementing and delivering projects on time under tight deadlines and budgets;

He has also co-authored two books “Visual Editing in Unix” and “Unix Document Processing and Typesetting. He has also published and co-authored several papers in local and international journals.

Dr Ranai was formerly the Vice President of ITMA (2001 and 2002) and set as council member for National Information Technology Standards Committee 1998 (ITSC) and council member for Singapore IT Dispute Resolution Advisory Committee (SITDRAC) 1999-2003. He has also co-organised several local IT conferences in Singapore.
